All keys lost

All keys lost means the vehicle has no working key at all — every key is lost, stolen, or broken. With no authorized key present, a replacement cannot be copied from an existing one; it has to be generated from scratch and registered to the vehicle’s immobilizer through secure manufacturer access. As a NASTF Vehicle Security Professional credentialed shop, we are authorized to make that lawful access, generate the new key, and confirm the vehicle starts and the remote functions work before it leaves.

This is in-shop work, by appointment, at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78217. Because the vehicle usually cannot be driven, most owners arrange a tow to us. Bring proof of ownership — a photo ID and your registration or title — since we are required to verify you own the vehicle before any key is made. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners.

Add a key

Add a key means programming an additional key for a vehicle that still has at least one working key — a spare, or a second smart key for another driver. We program transponder keys, remote-head keys, and smart keys for push-button start, registering each one to the immobilizer alongside your existing keys so every key starts the vehicle. A cut blade alone will not run the engine; the transponder chip has to be programmed through secure access, the part that requires manufacturer-level tooling.

Bring every key or fob you already have — on many platforms adding a key re-registers the full set — along with proof of ownership. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners.

What happens if all keys are lost?

All keys lost means the vehicle has no working key at all. You bring the vehicle to our shop by appointment, we verify ownership, then generate a new key and program the immobilizer so the car recognizes it. Most platforms return to service the same day.

Can you add a key or make a spare key?

Yes. Add a key means you already have one working key and want a spare. We cut and program the new key alongside your existing keys at our San Antonio shop, by appointment. Bring every key you own so each one stays registered to the vehicle.

What are immobilizer services, and why is my security light on?

The immobilizer is the anti-theft system that only lets the engine run when it recognizes a registered key. A flashing or steady security light with a no-start usually means the key and immobilizer no longer agree. Our immobilizer services include diagnosis of that fault, immobilizer reset after module replacement or electrical events, anti-theft reset, and adapting a replacement security module to your existing keys.

Do you program push-button smart keys?

Yes. Push-button start vehicles use a smart key, a fob the car detects without a metal blade turning in a lock. We program smart keys for add a key and all keys lost situations on most makes, in-shop by appointment. If the dash reads key not detected, bring the fob with you so we can test it before programming a replacement.

What do I need to bring for an all keys lost appointment?

Bring the vehicle and proof of ownership — a photo ID and your registration or title, since we are required to verify you own the vehicle before any key is made. Have the year, make, model, and VIN ready when you call, and bring any broken keys or dead fobs you still have. What is a transponder key, and why does a spare need programming?

A transponder key has a small chip in the head. The immobilizer reads that chip and only lets the engine start if it recognizes it. A cut blade lets a spare open the doors and turn the ignition, but the engine will not run until the transponder is programmed to the immobilizer through secure access — the part of add a key that requires manufacturer-level tooling. We do this in-shop, by appointment.
