Specialty services
most San Antonio independents can’t reach.
Spot-On performs specialty diagnostic and module services at our San Antonio shop — module programming and cloning, EEPROM repair, cluster odometer correction, VIN correction, immobilizer disable, and second-opinion electrical diagnosis on platforms most independent shops cannot service. By appointment only at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105.
The work the dealer quotes too high.
- Module programming & cloningReplacement or repaired modules programmed to your vehicle. Often a fraction of dealer quote for "module replacement."
- EEPROM repairMemory chip-level repair for failed control modules — saves the module instead of replacing it.
- Cluster odometer correctionReconciling mileage after instrument cluster replacement, as required by federal law.
- VIN correctionFor modules and clusters where VIN data was rewritten incorrectly during prior work.
- Immobilizer disableWhere supported by platform and legal under applicable law.
- Second-opinion electricalBring a dealer estimate; we verify what’s actually wrong.
Three reasons.
- CapabilityWe run the same OEM software the dealer uses, plus engineering-tier tools the dealer doesn’t deploy.
- No multi-week waitMost diagnoses are same-day.
- One vehicle at a timeProperly. A dealership service writer typically isn’t a master tech; the lead tech at Spot-On is.

PCM and ECM programming
When your engine computer — the PCM (powertrain control module) or ECM (engine control module) — is replaced with a new or used unit, it does not simply plug in and run. The module has to be loaded with the correct manufacturer software for your engine and options, written with your VIN, and taught to trust your keys through an immobilizer relearn before the engine will start and run the way the factory intended. We also handle Chrysler and Nissan PCM/ECM software corrections and GM AFM/DOD (Active Fuel Management) disable.
For vehicle owners this is in-shop work, by appointment, at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78217. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners; bring the vehicle in, or arrange a tow if it will not start.
ABS module programming
The ABS module runs your anti-lock brakes and, on most vehicles, traction control and electronic stability control (ESC). When it is replaced it has to be programmed and coded to your specific vehicle before the brake, traction-control and stability warnings will clear — the correct software, variant coding to your option content, and the manufacturer's post-replacement steps run through OEM tooling. A used ABS module makes this unavoidable: it arrives already programmed to the vehicle it came out of, so we either virginize it and code it fresh, or clone your original module's data into it, depending on the platform.
Like all of our retail work, ABS module programming is in-shop only, by appointment, at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78217. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners.
I'm not in San Antonio — can I still book?
Yes. Vehicle owners from Boerne, New Braunfels, Schertz, Seguin, Kerrville, Floresville, Pleasanton, and the rest of the ring around San Antonio book the same way anyone in town does: an in-shop appointment at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78217. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners, so plan on driving in or having the vehicle brought to us. Call (210) 439-7905 first and we will confirm the job and have the right tools ready when you arrive.
Do you do module programming for vehicle owners, or only for shops?
Both. Module programming — loading the correct manufacturer software into a replacement or repaired control module so it works with your specific vehicle — is one of the most common reasons owners come to our San Antonio shop. Engine, transmission, body, ABS, airbag, and instrument cluster modules are all handled here with the same OEM software the dealer uses. If a dealer quoted you a module replacement, module programming on a good used or repaired unit is often the cheaper route, and we will tell you honestly which one your vehicle actually needs.
What should I bring for module programming or a second-opinion diagnosis?
Bring the vehicle, all of its keys, and any paperwork you already have — a dealer estimate, a prior shop's invoice, or a list of the warning lights and symptoms. If you bought a replacement module yourself, bring it and the original if you still have it; module programming on some platforms needs data pulled from the old unit. For cluster odometer correction, bring documentation of the true mileage. We work by appointment at the shop so that the correct software is loaded before you pull in.
Do you program a replacement PCM or ECM?
Yes. When your PCM or ECM is replaced with a new or used unit, we load the correct manufacturer software, write your VIN, and run the immobilizer relearn so the engine starts and runs correctly. We also handle Chrysler and Nissan software corrections and GM AFM/DOD disable. For vehicle owners this is in-shop only, by appointment, at 4715 N Stahl Park, Suite 105, San Antonio, TX 78217.
Do you program a new ABS module?
Yes. A replacement ABS module — new or used — has to be programmed and coded to your vehicle before the brake, traction-control and stability lights will clear. A used module also needs to be virginized or cloned so it stops answering to the vehicle it came from. This is in-shop only for vehicle owners, by appointment. We do not dispatch mobile service to vehicle owners.
