Mobile automotive electrical diagnostics is dispatched by distance band from our shop at 4715 N Stahl Park, San Antonio. Schertz, Selma, Universal City, Helotes, Converse, Leon Valley, Live Oak, and Cibolo are inside our included 20-mile travel radius, so trade dispatch carries no trip charge. Boerne, New Braunfels, Seguin, Floresville, Pleasanton, San Marcos, and Bulverde are beyond our 20-mile included travel radius; a $2.50/mi round-trip charge applies. The included 20-mile radius is measured by road from our shop; we confirm at booking whether a Marion, La Vernia, Spring Branch, St. Hedwig, Grey Forest, Fair Oaks Ranch, or Elmendorf address falls inside it or carries the $2.50/mi round-trip charge. Farther out — Castroville, Canyon Lake, Comfort, Bandera, Wimberley, Lockhart, Luling, Hondo, Fredericksburg, and Kerrville among them — the same $2.50/mi round-trip charge applies. At that distance most shops choose remote J2534 programming or mail-in bench service for programming work; a live electrical fault still needs hands on the vehicle, so mobile dispatch is available and quoted per mile. We do not serve Austin.
Can you dispatch for an intermittent electrical fault that won't act up in the bay?
Yes. Intermittent faults are the bulk of the electrical diagnostics we dispatch. We set up OEM-native or PicoScope data logging on the suspect circuits and the network, capture across the drive cycle or thermal condition that triggers the fault, and correlate the log against freeze-frame and module event data. Wiggle-testing harness sections and connectors under load usually follows. Send us the codes, the conditions the customer reports, and what has been replaced so far, and we plan the capture before we roll.
How do you isolate a parasitic draw on a vehicle with a dozen modules?
Amp clamp or series ammeter at the battery, then wait for full network sleep, which on modern platforms comes well after lock. Once the draw is confirmed, we isolate by circuit at the fuse panels, watching the reading rather than pulling fuses blind, then move to the module or accessory holding the bus awake. Wake-up analysis on the CAN or LIN network identifies the offender when the draw is a module refusing to sleep. Automotive electrical diagnostics at this level is measurement, not parts swapping.
What does CAN or network fault diagnosis look like on a dispatch visit?
We start at the DLC with a network scan to see which modules respond, then check CAN high and low voltages, termination resistance, and the waveform on a scope rather than trusting U-codes alone. From there it is topology work: gateway routing, which bus segment the offline modules share, and whether a single module or a harness section is corrupting the bus. Electrical diagnostics on a network fault ends with a proven cause, one bad module, one chafe, one water-intruded connector, not a list of suspects.
What do you do with the car no shop can find the fault on?
We treat prior work as data. Tell us what was replaced, what the dealer said they could not replicate, and what conditions the customer describes, and we build a capture plan around that instead of repeating the same scan. That usually means engineering-tier software the dealer's standard tool does not expose, a scope on the suspect circuit, and logging through the trigger condition. Automotive electrical diagnostics done this way produces a documented cause you can put on the RO and stand behind.
