Remote J2534 programming
across the US & Canada.

Spot-On runs remote J2534 module programming for repair shops, body shops, transmission shops, and dealerships across the US and Canada. You stay in your bay with a J2534-compliant pass-thru device or compatible Autel scan tool; we connect from our shop and drive the programming session using OEM-authentic software — plus engineering-tier tools the dealer doesn't deploy. Most platforms scheduled within hours during business days.

Pick what fits your shop's tooling.

Whichever your bay already has, we connect from our shop and complete the programming session live.

  • Autel Remote ExpertIf you have a compatible Autel MaxiSys with Remote Expert enabled, we connect directly to your tool from our shop. No additional hardware required on your end. Fastest path — setup in minutes.
  • J2534 pass-thruConnect your pass-thru device (Mongoose, DrewTech CarDAQ-Plus, Bosch MTC, GM MDI, etc.) to a Windows laptop in the bay. We connect remotely and run the OEM software from our end. Typical setup 5–10 minutes.

What you need in the bay.

  • Pass-thru device or compatible Autel toolPer the method above.
  • Windows laptopFor J2534 sessions. Not required for Autel Remote Expert.
  • Stable internetWired preferred. 25 Mbps+ recommended for OEM software downloads during the session.
  • Battery maintainer on the vehicle12.6V+ minimum. Programming load can pull voltage dangerously low.
  • Ignition state, fault codes, key fobsPer the platform's requirements. We confirm specifics when you call.

OEM-authentic software, engineering-tier where it counts.

  • Manufacturer-licensed scan toolsODIS, FDRS, GDS2, TIS Techstream, Pathfinder, PIWIS, XENTRY, wiTECH, INSITE, and more.
  • Engineering-tier softwareODIS-E, INPA, ISTA/P, SFD authentication, component-protection unlocks where required.
  • NASTF VSP credentialsFor secure-gateway-protected procedures.
  • Same-day availabilityMost platforms scheduled within hours during business days.

Any bay with a pass-thru, from the Hill Country to another province.

Remote programming is not tied to our travel radius, and that is the point. Remote module programming lets a shop in Boerne, New Braunfels, Seguin, San Marcos, Pleasanton, or Floresville — all beyond our 20-mile included travel radius, where mobile dispatch carries a $2.50/mi round-trip charge — skip the trip entirely and have the module programmed in its own bay. Shops farther out in Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Castroville, Hondo, and the rest of the Hill Country and South Texas ring get the same answer: mobile dispatch is available and quoted per mile, but at that distance most shops choose remote J2534 programming or mail-in bench service. Beyond Texas, the workflow is unchanged for shops anywhere in the US and Canada.

What is remote module programming?

Remote module programming is a live session in which Spot-On connects from our San Antonio shop to a vehicle sitting in your bay and runs the OEM programming software from our end. Your J2534 pass-thru device or compatible Autel scan tool is the bridge; we handle the software licensing, the flash sequence, and the post-flash verification while your technician stays with the vehicle. It covers ECM, PCM, TCM, BCM, ABS, SRS, instrument cluster, and body-controller work, plus variant coding and software corrections.

What does my shop need in the bay?

For a J2534 session you need a J2534-compliant pass-thru device, a Windows laptop with a stable internet connection, and a battery maintainer on the vehicle. For Autel Remote Expert you only need a compatible Autel MaxiSys with Remote Expert enabled; no laptop is required. Either way, have the vehicle in the bay, the keys or fobs on hand, and the fault codes or symptom description ready when you call so we can confirm platform-specific requirements before the session starts.

How far away can the shop be?

Distance is not a factor for remote programming. We run sessions for shops anywhere in the United States and Canada, and the workflow is identical whether the bay is in Kerrville, Seguin, Fredericksburg, or another state or province. Mobile dispatch is a separate service around San Antonio, with a 20-mile travel radius included and a $2.50/mi round-trip charge beyond that. Remote programming has no travel component and no mileage charge, which is why distant shops choose it.

Remote or mail-in — which fits?

Choose remote when the module is installed in the vehicle, the vehicle communicates, and your bay has a pass-thru device or compatible Autel tool. Choose mail-in bench service when the module needs work off the vehicle: cloning, virginizing, EEPROM or module repair, or a unit pulled from a vehicle that will not power up. Both lanes are available nationwide across the US and Canada. If you are unsure, call with the OEM, module, and symptom and we will point you to the right lane.
