Mercedes ESL emulator.
W204 / W207 / W212, mail-in.
Spot-On programs a plug-and-play Mercedes ESL emulator for the W204, W207 and W212 as a productized mail-in service: your shop mails in the EIS/EZS ignition switch and a working key, and we return an ELV emulator programmed to that EIS, ready to plug in at the column. The same bench handles Mercedes ESL, EZS and FBS steering-lock and ignition-switch work in-shop, and we dispatch to shops across the San Antonio metro for Mercedes electronic steering lock jobs that need hands on the car.
EIS in, programmed emulator out.
You do the R&R at your bay. We do the FBS-matched programming on our bench. No dealer part order, no waiting on a replacement ELV.
- 1. Confirm the platformW204, W207 or W212 only. Call with year, model and chassis code and we confirm the emulator fits before you pull anything.
- 2. Ship the EIS/EZS and one keyPack the ignition switch and a working key with your shop name, contact number and vehicle details. Mail-in is accepted from anywhere in the US and Canada.
- 3. We program the ESL emulatorOn the bench we read the EIS, personalize the emulator to it and verify the handshake before anything ships back.
- 4. Plug-and-play returnYou receive the EIS, the key and the programmed emulator. Install it at the column in place of the failed ELV, reinstall the EIS, key in, dash wakes, engine starts.
ESL / EZS / FBS, beyond the emulator.
- ESL / ELV diagnosisSeparating a dead ESL from an EIS/EZS fault, a key that has lost its FBS pairing, or a wiring problem at the column before anyone buys parts.
- EIS / EZS ignition switch serviceIgnition-switch work on our Mercedes bench, including the cases where the EIS, not the lock, is why the Mercedes won't start.
- FBS key work and TRPNASTF VSP credentialed key and immobilizer work on the FBS chain; genuine Theft Relevant Parts coordinated via the TRP Request form.
- Follow-on programmingSCN coding and module programming on XENTRY after the repair, at your bay or by remote J2534 where the procedure allows. More Mercedes bench work on our Mercedes-Benz page.
What is a Mercedes ESL and why does it fail?
The Mercedes ESL (electronic steering lock, ELV in Mercedes documentation) is a motorized lock on the steering column that must release and complete a handshake with the EIS/EZS before the vehicle wakes up. It sits in the FBS drive-authorization chain. The usual failure is inside the ESL itself: the motor or its controller stops responding, the EIS never gets the release confirmation, and you get the classic complaint: key in, will not turn or dash stays dark, Mercedes won't start.
Which chassis does the emulator cover?
The W204 C-Class, the W207 E-Class coupe and cabriolet, and the W212 E-Class sedan and wagon. We do not offer the ESL emulator for chassis outside those three. An ESL or steering-lock fault on another Mercedes platform is routed as in-shop ESL/EZS/FBS work instead.
What do I mail in?
The EIS/EZS ignition switch removed from the vehicle and one working key. The emulator is personalized to the EIS on our bench, which is why we need the unit and not just the VIN. Ship both to our San Antonio shop with your shop name, contact number and the vehicle year, model and chassis. We return the EIS, the key and a programmed plug-and-play ESL emulator.
Can you dispatch to my shop?
Yes. For repair shops, body shops, transmission shops and dealerships in the San Antonio metro we dispatch for Mercedes ESL, EZS and FBS work at your bay. A 20-mile travel radius is included; beyond 20 miles a $2.50/mi round-trip charge applies. Farther shops usually mail in the EIS and key instead, since a failed ELV is a hardware fault that no remote J2534 session can write around. We do not dispatch to vehicle owners.
San Antonio metro by dispatch. Everywhere else by mail.
Shops in San Antonio, Schertz, Selma, Universal City, Helotes, Converse, Leon Valley, Live Oak and Cibolo are inside our included 20-mile travel radius, so trade dispatch for Mercedes ESL and EZS work carries no trip charge. Boerne, New Braunfels, Seguin, Floresville, Pleasanton, San Marcos and Bulverde are beyond our 20-mile included travel radius; a $2.50/mi round-trip charge applies. The included 20-mile radius is measured by road from our shop; we confirm at booking whether a Marion, La Vernia, Spring Branch, St. Hedwig, Grey Forest, Fair Oaks Ranch or Elmendorf address falls inside it or carries the $2.50/mi round-trip charge.
For Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Gonzales, Lockhart, Hondo, Pearsall and the rest of the outer ring, mobile dispatch is available and quoted per mile, but at that distance most shops choose the mail-in route. The mail-in ESL emulator works the same for a shop across town, across Texas, or anywhere in the US and Canada. We do not serve Austin with dispatch.

Call with the year, model and chassis code and tell us whether the car is at your bay or the EIS is already out. We confirm the emulator fits and give you mail-in details or a dispatch slot.
