Porsche Cayenne add-a-key — PIWIS programming with full immobilizer authorization

A repair shop subletted a Porsche Cayenne add-a-key job to Spot-On. Resolved on-site at the partner shop's bay via PIWIS VCM 3 with current subscription. Three Porsche smart keys programmed and authorized in a single dispatch.

▸ SYMPTOM

What the vehicle was doing.

Repair-shop trade partner had a Porsche Cayenne in for unrelated mechanical work. Customer requested two additional smart keys be programmed during the visit. Partner shop does not carry PIWIS or NASTF VSP credentials — dispatched to us.

▸ DIAGNOSIS

What we found, and how.

Porsche immobilizer service requires Porsche Tester Diagnostics (PIWIS) with current OEM subscription. PIWIS is not available to standard scan tools, and the immobilizer programming requires lawful access to the security gateway — only legally performed by NASTF Vehicle Security Professional credentialed technicians.

▸ TOOLING

What the work required.

Porsche PIWIS VCM 3 dongle with current PIWIS Tester Diagnostics software subscription. Lenovo diagnostic laptop running the PIWIS environment. NASTF VSP credentials active. Two Porsche-spec smart key blanks supplied by the trade partner.

▸ PROCEDURE

Step by step.

  1. 01Dispatched to partner shop bay. Confirmed vehicle identification, fault-code state (clear), battery voltage with maintainer connected.
  2. 02PIWIS VCM 3 connected via OBD-II. Vehicle identified through PIWIS Tester Diagnostics, immobilizer state verified.
  3. 03NASTF AIR transaction initiated for the security gateway access required to register new keys.
  4. 04New key #1 programmed and registered to the vehicle's immobilizer.
  5. 05New key #2 programmed and registered.
  6. 06Original existing key verified still functional after the procedure.
  7. 07All three keys tested: unlock, lock, start, remote functions confirmed.
  8. 08Documentation generated (available on request).
▸ OUTCOME

What the customer left with.

Customer left with three working Porsche keys instead of one. Partner shop kept the customer relationship, billed the customer through their shop, and paid Spot-On at trade wholesale. The alternative would have been sending the vehicle to a Porsche dealership for the key work — dealer wait list, dealer rate, and the customer relationship handed over.
