▸ ADAS / DRIVER-ASSIST WARNING

Driver-assist warnings
after a repair?

Lane-keep, adaptive cruise, automatic-braking, or blind-spot warnings that appear after a windshield replacement, wheel alignment, suspension work, or bumper/collision repair almost always mean an ADAS sensor was disturbed and now needs recalibration to factory tolerance. Spot-On performs OEM static and dynamic ADAS calibration at our San Antonio shop.

Common causes.

  • Windshield replacedThe forward-facing camera behind the glass must be recalibrated to its new mounting position.
  • Alignment or suspension changeA new thrust angle shifts the aim of radar and camera sensors, throwing warnings.
  • Bumper or grille removedFront radar for adaptive cruise and automatic braking gets moved and needs re-aiming.
  • A sensor was replacedAny new ADAS camera, radar, or module requires calibration before the system will work.

Diagnosed properly, fixed at the root.

An uncalibrated camera or radar can brake late, steer toward the wrong lane line, or fail silently when you need it most. Calibration is not a scan-tool reset — it requires OEM targets, a level floor, correct lighting, and the exact factory procedure for your vehicle.

  1. Identify affected systems. Determine which systems need static calibration, dynamic (road-drive), or both.
  2. Set up OEM targets. Position factory target boards on a level floor to spec.
  3. Run the factory procedure. Calibrate each sensor with the OEM scan tool; complete any dynamic road drive.
  4. Verify & document. Confirm all systems pass with no active faults and the warnings are cleared.

Questions we get about this.

My glass shop said I need a calibration — is that real?
Yes. Nearly every vehicle from 2018 on with a windshield camera requires recalibration after the glass is replaced. Skipping it leaves a safety system aimed wrong.
Body shops and glass shops — do you come to us?
Yes. Mobile ADAS calibration is a trade service we bring to your bay. Individual vehicle owners bring the car to our shop by appointment.
How long does calibration take?
Typically one to three hours, depending on how many systems are involved and whether a dynamic road drive is required.
